Farhat Nizam hails from a humble background in Sopore. Her father, Nizam ud Din Shah, works as a laborer, while Farhat has two sisters and four brothers, all of whom are studying. Growing up in a financially constrained household, Farhat always aspired to support her family and become financially independent. Her dreams were realized when she learned about the tailoring course offered by the ActionAid Foundation Centre, which was introduced to her by the mobilization team. Upon enrolling in the course, Farhat felt a sense of hope and determination. She eagerly learned various tailoring techniques, and the hands-on training boosted her confidence. After completing her course, she started a small tailoring business, earning around ₹8,000–₹10,000 per month. Farhat’s earnings have been a game-changer for her family, providing much-needed financial relief. Her contributions have helped pay for her siblings’ education and support her parents. Looking ahead, Farhat plans to expand her business and possibly open a small boutique, creating more opportunities for herself and others in her community. Her earnings have lifted a significant weight off her family’s shoulders, allowing her to contribute to household expenses and support her siblings’ education.

Sameer Ahmad Mir’s story is one of perseverance and transformation. Raised in a family where both parents are in their old age and with two married sisters, Sameer felt the weight of responsibility at a young age. Before training, Sameer Ahmad Mir worked in informal jobs, struggling due to limited skills. Seeking to create a stable future, once the mobilization team reached him and gave him briefing of the courses, He decided to enroll in a Customer Care Executive course at the ActionAid Eductrain Foundation Centre in Sopore. There, he learned a wide range of skills, from effective communication and typing to mastering computer basics, all of which equipped him for success in the modern workforce. After completing his training, Sameer’s adaptability and technical expertise led him to the multimedia field. Today, he is earning a steady income of ₹20,000 per month, not only supporting himself but also helping his aging parents. Sameer’s journey is a powerful example of how skill development can lead to financial independence and offer a way to create opportunities despite challenging circumstances. His success underscores the transformative impact of education and determination.
